Reviewing your giving

Two pence piecesGive As You Earn is really easy to set up, but how many employees review their donations a regular basis? We recommend that everyone looks at what they are giving at least once a year. This ensures that you are still giving to the causes that mean the most to you and that giving increases at least with the level of inflation.

Why not take this opportunity to suggest that your employees review their giving levels. One idea would be for employees to give back the money they save on their pre-tax donations.

So if your employee normally gives a pre-tax donation of £5, which equates to £1 in tax-relief (at the 20% basic income tax rate). Employees then add £1 to the original donation level which means that the charity receives £6 altogether.

Or you could simply remind your employees (at least once a year) to review what they give, as well as encouraging more employees to give through Give As You Earn.
