Miliband praises charity climate change campaign
16 July 2009
Climate change minister
Ed Miliband has spoken out in favour of a charity campaign.
Speaking at Cafod's Climate Justice Creation Care event in
Doncaster, the MP commented that ordinary people can make the
difference by urging world leaders to secure a strong climate
change deal.
The minister also stated that Cafod must build up its resources
ahead of a vital UN meeting in Copenhagen in December.
"I want to congratulate Cafod on its Climate Justice campaign.
We need to keep up the good work between now and December if we are
going to get the kind of ambitious deal on climate change that we
need," Mr Miliband said.
The MP added that "unless leaders know that [climate change] is
something people are genuinely committed to it, it less likely that
they will act".
Cafod's Climate Justice campaign is attempting to combat
droughts, floods and extreme weather conditions in the world's
poorest areas and aims to provide necessary support for developing
countries bearing the brunt of climate change.
