British rock band
Coldplay have donated to a children's charity.
The group, led by lead singer Chris Martin, has given a gift of
$1.5 million (£1 million) to the Kids Company after they visited the
charity's centres across the country.
The organisation seeks to provide practical and emotional
support for vulnerable groups of children without adults in their
lives.
Kids Company founder Camila Batmanghelidjh said: "[Coldplay]
were moved by the tough stories they heard and want to be genuine
participants.
"I got the feeling it was something they had planned from the
start of their careers."
The London-based band could also give music lessons to children
working with the charitable organisation, it has been reported.
In related news, the Kids Company recent received financial
backing from wealth management firm Bestinvest.
Commenting on the move, Bestinvest chairman Marcel Porcheron
said that the charity's work is "highly resource intensive" and
stood out from 16 other organisations shortlisted for financial
support.
