thomyorkeA number of famous musicians and bands have donated items to an online auction in aid of a landmine charity.

The Music Beats Mines project is headed by the Mines Advisory Group (MAG) and is running an auction that includes signed Radiohead and Stone Roses artwork, a signed Elbow promo CD, an hour on the Steinway Grand piano at the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester and tickets to Kendal Calling Festival.

The auction is being held on eBay and will end on December 6th.

Elbow lead singer Guy Garvey commented on the project in a video on the Music Beats Mines website: "It's up to us to get rid of mines and bombs so that people can enjoy the safe, walking-down-the-street kind of lifestyle that we do.

"Music Beats Mines is the answer."

Also included in the auction are a series of MAG t-shirt signed by such performers as Dizzy Rascal, the Enemy, Calvin Harris, the Specials and Pink, while former Talking Heads lead singer David Byrne is offering a signed copy of his book, Bicycle Diaries.

A recent fundraising event at Moho Live in Manchester raised £1,770 for the project.
