FRSB launches campaign to boost Christmas giving
1 December 2009
A public campaign has
been launched by the Fundraising Standards Board (FRSB) in order to
boost charitable giving this Christmas.
Backed by Angela Smith, minister of the third sector, the Give
With Confidence campaign aims to improve donations to charity while
also raising public awareness of the FRSB and its role in
regulating the sector, UK Fundraising reports.
Figures from the board indicate that charitable donations have
dropped around 11 per cent in the past year.
According to the news source, Angela Smith said: "[FRSB] members
are leading the way in championing the highest fundraising
standards and communicating that commitment to their
supporters.
"I would encourage charities and suppliers to sign up to the
UK's independent self-regulatory scheme for fundraising."
FRSB chief executive Alistair McLean added that the fall in
giving has correlated with a rise in demand for charitable services
during the economic downturn.
According to the nfpSynergy Scottish Charity Awareness Monitor,
conducted in October 2008, the public has greater trust for and
will donate larger sums of money to charities that are FRSB scheme
members.
