London Catalyst, formerly the Metropolitan Hospital-Sunday Fund, was established in 1873 to provide a fund to assist the 'sick and poor' of London. Today the legacy of this fund and donations to our annual appeal is used to give grants to charities and provide an emergency 'Samaritan' fund to health and social work agencies to help people living in poverty and coping with ill health. Last year our Samaritan Fund helped 5,000 people with vital small grants for food, clothing and travel. All the donations we receive are added entirely to the Samaritan fund and distributed to our 120 partner agencies across London.
