Blogging service announces $6,000 prize for most talked about
charities
20 May 2009
Blogging service Zemanta has launched a campaign that will
see the "most blogged about" charities win $6,000 (£3,880).
Operating the scheme in conjuction with Weber Shandwick's Social
Innovation Greenhouse, Zemanta's Blogging For A Cause will award
the prize money to charitable organisations that have had the most
coverage within its community.
The website is encouraging its bloggers to write about their
favourite charity before 6 June so that five can be selected to
split the prize money.
In related news, the blogging site was recently awarded second
prize in the Change the Web Challenge for its work with Social
Actions.
The partnership developed a civic causes aggregator that
recommends worthy organisations to bloggers from over 50 online
databases while they write.
Social Actions also allows users to search for third sector
organisations using tags and keywords such as "climate change",
"Darfur" and "healthcare", its website reports.
