Scottish government announces Third Sector Enterprise Fund
grants
18 June 2009
The Scottish government
has announced the first 12 recipients of grants under its £12
million Third Sector Enterprise Fund.
Finance secretary John Swinney revealed that money has been
allocated to organisations to allow them to grow and expand their
public services.
Among them are Rosemount Lifelong Learning, a Glasgow
organisation that offers family support and child care advice,
Changeworks, a recycling project based in Edinburgh, and Multi
Ethnic Aberdeen Limited, an ethnic minority employment services
organisation.
Mr Swinney commented: "We increased Scottish government funding
for the sector by 37 per cent and launched the Third Sector
Enterprise Fund because we wanted to see organisations play a
greater part in helping us create a more successful Scotland."
He added that the 12 designated organisations would undoubtedly
play "a full and active role" in improving the Scottish
economy.
The fund is open to social and environmental organisations based
in Scotland that show the potential to become more financially
sustainable and have an appropriate management framework in
place.
