Vodafone Foundation launches World of Difference 2009
campaign
22 June 2009
The Vodafone
Foundation has launched a campaign geared towards funding overseas
charity workers.
Entitled World of Difference 2009, the initiative will pay
£45,000 of salaries and expenses to eight individuals who will be
employed on behalf of UK-based voluntary organisations.
Applicants can choose which charity they wish to support,
subject to meeting qualification requirements.
Lucy Caslon, who won funding in 2008 and worked in Africa for an
Aids charity called Msizi Africa that she helped set up, commented
on the experience: "Vodafone Foundation's World of Difference award
is a fantastic opportunity for highly-talented individuals to
commit a year of their life to a charity they believe in.
"[It] has catapulted Msizi Africa from an unknown charity to one
that's making a major difference to children's lives in this
sector."
Online applications for the funding must be submitted online by
30 July.
The foundation aims to be operating the World of Difference
campaign in 18 countries by next year.
Msizi Africa runs food programmes in Lesotho, Zambia, Uganda and
South Africa.
