Lidl announces BHF as dedicated charity partner
1 July 2009
Supermarket
chain Lidl has announced its first ever charity partner in the form
of the British Heart Foundation (BHF).
Customers and staff at the company's hundreds of stores all
around the country will raise vital funds for the organisation over
the next year.
Its website reports that £24 can provide an hour of specialist
care from a BHF heart nurse, while £50 could fund a BHF young
scientist for two hours.
In-store promotions and activities that support the charity are
expected to be announced soon.
The British Heart Foundation funds 1,200 heart disease research
projects, exploring new drugs and safer treatments, as well as
caring for heart patients and providing key information and advice
to those suffering from a heart-related illness.
Some 400 BHF nurses currently care for patients in the UK.
