CAF VENTURESOME REFLECTS ON 2018
12 December 2018
We now have 12 people in our CAF Venturesome team, all here to support social enterprises and charities to sustain and grow their social impact. I asked everyone this week to reflect on 2018 at CAF Venturesome and let me have their highlights.
"My highlight for 2018 would be working with an awesome (and ever-growing) team!"
"My highlight has got to be joining the fantastic Venturesome team!"
Getting to know our investees
"Seeing the hard work and dedication of so many apprentices at St Mungo’s, who were on the street less than 6 months ago and keen to get a fresh start. Learning construction skills from them was a humbling experience."
"Seeing first hand Britain’s first community owned chip shop, Chelmund’s Fish & Chips, in action after its reopening in the spring. Our loan has played a small part in making this exciting project a reality. The chips are pretty good as well!"
"Meeting the wonderful people who work for our investees to find out what they have been able to achieve with social investment."
"Doing research into the wider social investment sector, meeting with fascinating organisations and learning more about the opportunities/challenges in this space."
"Financing charities across different sectors, ranging from UK homelessness to schools in South Africa."
"Enjoying a Local Food Links school lunch in Bridport and seeing them grow to supplying 50 schools across Dorset."
Launching our Impact Report
"Having dozens of social enterprises, charities, funders and colleagues coming together to launch our beautiful new impact report on a rainy night in November."
"My highlight of the year was the launch of the Impact Report. Having the investees and investors in one room, putting faces to names and hearing the investees share their amazing stories was very inspiring to me. I know that I am in the right organisation and making a difference."
"Listening to Josh, a beneficiary of Tall Ships Youth Trust, on how his life has been transformed."
Our wonderful summer
"Mine has to be running the "Spitfire Dash", the race from the CAF offices in Kings Hill to the local pub the Spitfire and back, at the CAF Summer Party on a very hot day!
