SPOTLIGHT ON HADLEY DIEST

21 November 2019

Hadley manages a portfolio of social investments in our Development Fund, leading on our social investments for international development.

TELL ME A BIT ABOUT YOURSELF AND YOUR BACKGROUND

Originally hailing from Michigan (USA), after secondary school I made my way east to study and work in Boston and New York, beginning my career as a leveraged finance banker and subsequently working in finance and strategy roles for an education‐reform focused organisation also based in New York.

After completing my MBA and moving to London, I founded and grew a corporate wellbeing business before returning to more socially-focused work last year. Most recently, I worked with a third sector consultancy, leading investment readiness projects that helped charities and social enterprises with their financial modelling and business planning efforts, in preparation to take on social investment. I really enjoy the process of utilising my technical background for the purposes of helping mission driven organisations grow and increase their impact; meeting and working with incredibly passionate and driven social sector leaders is one of the best parts of this work.

WHAT TYPES OF CAUSES ARE YOU MOST ATTRACTED TO?

While I enjoy working with charities and social enterprises across all sectors, areas of particular interest to me are education & training and financial inclusion. Supporting organisations that endeavour to create a society and economy that better provide opportunities for everyone to realise their talents and fulfil their potential is something I care about deeply, and is a big part of what I enjoy most about my role here at Venturesome.
