MIKE DIXON, DIRECTOR OF FINANCE AND OPERATIONS

In order to remain competitive and continue operating efficiently, organisations like ours need strong financial leadership. This is why it’s so important to have the right person occupying the position of Director of Finance and Operations.

These senior-level professionals are responsible for managing key accounting functions like revenue, capital and financial reporting, and therefore require impeccable communication and analytical skills, as well as a perfect eye for detail. Most will have picked these traits up acquiring formal accounting and finance qualifications, and through their experience in other related roles.

MIKE'S ROLE AT CAF

Mike has been Finance and Operations Director of Charities Aid Foundation since 2008. Mike trained as a a Chartered Accountant with Price Waterhouse where he worked for a number of years with a range of major international businesses. He joined HSBC Insurance Brokers, a large international insurance broking group, in 1993, where he was Finance Director for six years before becoming Chief Executive, a position he held for seven years. He was also non executive director of Assurex Global, the world’s largest privately held insurance broking partnership from 2002 to 2005.

Mike has been a trustee of Age UK since 10 October 2017 and is a member of its Strategic Finance Committee.

He was until recently a Trustee of Addaction, one of the UK’s leading and largest specialist drug, alcohol and mental health treatment charities, and was Chairman of Addaction’s Audit & risk committee. He was also a non-executive director of Surrey Community Health, the provider arm of NHS Surrey between April 2009 and March 2011, where he was Chairman of the Audit Committee
