Ed Balls Tops CAF's Generation Game

5th October 2012

Ed Balls, famed for his competitive streak, is falling over himself with excitement that he is the highest scorer to date on CAF’s Generation Game, currently doing the rounds at the Labour Party conference. So pleased was he with his score, he dragged his wife Yvette over boasting, “Yvette – come here and look – I’m top.”

The game, which highlights giving and a predicted shortfall in donations, is proving a big hit with the hundreds of conference delegates.

A wide range of politicians have visited the CAF stand, which is highlighting CAF's new campaign to persuade those generations of adults succeeding the post-war Baby Boomers to get more engaged with charity.

Among those to pay a visit to the stand to date include Chief Secretary to the Treasury Danny Alexander, Lib Dem President Tim Farron and Shadow Health Secretary Andy Burnham. Although not strictly a politician, we were also pleased to receive a visit from Ed Miliband's wife, Justine Thornton.

CAF has also engaged with politicians through its fringe meetings at the conferences. At the Lib Dem conference, speakers included assistant whip Jenny Willott and peer Baroness Tyler, while at the Labour conference, those on the panel included Shadow Civil Society Minister Gareth Thomas and Shadow Children's Minister Lisa Nandy. MP Fiona MacTaggart was also in the audience.
