CAF responds to the Summer Budget

8 July 2015

Responding to the Summer Budget, Steve Clapperton, Campaigns Manager at the Charities Aid Foundation, said:

"Some of the broad policies announced in today's Budget in areas like National Insurance and Employment Allowance are likely to help charities alongside other employers.

"It is also good that George Osborne has provided some very public financial support to individual causes, ranging from the children's air ambulance to women's refuges and armed forces charities.

"Charities play a vital and varied role in all aspects of our national life from which most people in Britain benefit.

"Many voluntary organisations anticipate that demand for their work will increase over the coming years. With further pressure on  the public finances and welfare spending, it will be important for government to work in collaboration with charities to use their expertise and make sure charities are not simply left to fill the austerity gap."
