Pudsey Bear will once again grace our screens this evening as
one of the biggest fundraising nights of the year takes
place.
Children in Need will be live on the BBC from 7.30pm, jam-packed
with entertainment and aiming to raise money for disadvantaged
children and young people across the country and add to its total
of over £600m raised since 1980.
For the first time, the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) will play a
very significant role in the fundraising on the night, as the CAF
Giving Widget is being used to allow donors to give money directly
through the Children in Need Facebook page.
The CAF Giving Widget was launched over a year ago by CAF and is
now being used by 113 charities.
People can also give by many other methods, including online
through their CAF Charity Account.
CAF and the National Council for Voluntary Organisations have
launched the Back Britain's Charities campaign to encourage
people, government and business to get behind charities at a time
of financial pressure and high demand for their services.
Paul Rees, Executive Director at CAF said: “We are delighted to be
supporting Children in Need, which does fantastic work for children
and young people across the UK. These kinds of fundraising events
are hugely valuable in raising awareness of key issues and engaging
a wide audience in charitable activities.
“We urge everyone to get behind the event and be as generous as
they can in a time when we need to Back Britain's Charities so they
can survive and continue their vital work.”
The CAF Giving Widget is being discontinued - you can
now manage your multi-channel fundraising easily with CAF
