  • What does dual authorisation mean?

    This means that two people from your charity must authorise a transaction before it can be actioned. Find out more about dual authorisation.

  • How will the Authorisers know they need to approve a pending transaction?

    The Authoriser will receive an email alerting them to a pending transaction. Once they log in to the CAF Investment Account they’ll be directed to an 'Authorisation queue’ screen.

  • How does the first Authoriser know that the second Authoriser has approved the transaction?

    In the Authorisation queue under ‘Awaiting authorisation’ there’s an icon to indicate how many Authorisers have authorised the transactions (0/2 or 1/2). You can also drill down to see an audit trail of who authorised a transaction, and when.

  • Can the first Authoriser notify the second Authoriser to approve transactions?

    Not through the CAF Investment Account. All Authorisers receive an initial alert at the same time. You’ll be able to see any transactions awaiting authorisation when you log in to your CAF Investment Account.

  • How long does the second Authoriser have to approve the transaction, after it's been signed off by the first Authoriser?

    There’s no time limit, but the transaction won’t be made until two Authorisers have authorised it.

  • Can the second Authoriser amend the transaction details after the first Authoriser has authorised them?

    There’s no amend option, but they can cancel the transaction which removes it from the list. A new order will have to be placed and be subject to dual authorisation again.

  • How do I cancel a trade?

    If the trade hasn’t already been completed, there are two ways to cancel a trade:

    • If the trade hasn’t been approved by two Authorisers, anyone with Authoriser authority can cancel it via the Authorisation queue.
    • If the trade has been authorised by two Authorisers, you can cancel in the orders section. However, once a deal has been placed it can’t be cancelled.
  • What if the CAF Investment Account is unavailable - how do I deal?
    In the unlikely event that your CAF Investment Account is unavailable, please call the team on 03000 123 900 (7.45am – 5.30pm, Monday to Friday, except bank holidays). Any trades placed in this exceptional basis won’t be subject to dual authorisation as per the account Terms of Business.

Where to find secure messaging

Secure messaging can be found by clicking on the ‘Secure message’ tab, which can be found by logging into your Account. On clicking the box you’ll see two further boxes. One advises to send a secure message and the other is ‘Reply to a secure message’. By simply clicking on the chosen box you’ll be able to type your freeform message.
