CAF Connects Winter 2014

#GivingTuesday 2014 boosts donations by 270%

After months of build-up and anticipation, the UK’s first #GivingTuesday launched on 2 December 2014, with an amazing response.

We know that many companies work closely with their chosen charities or local communities to make a difference throughout the year. But #GivingTuesday gave a global focus, encouraging people, charities and businesses to donate time, money or their voice to help good causes.

Software provider and founding partner Blackbaud reported that donations in the UK went up by 270% compared to last year, and were up 43% on any other Tuesday in the year.

On #GivingTuesday 2014 companies participated in a wide variety of ways, from employee engagement to global media coverage:

Thomson Reuters promoted the #GivingTuesday on their digital screen in Canary Wharf

RBS launched a campaign to encourage its 100,000 employees to take part on the day and raised awareness of #GivingTuesday with their customers through social media channels.

Many companies, including Alliance Bernstein and the University of Manchester, used #GivingTuesday to promote CAF Give As You Earn as part of the BIG Promotion. The University of Manchester managed to reach all 10,000 of its employees and raised £70k for charity – an amazing achievement.
