SPOTLIGHT ON A TEAM MEMBER - SARAH DE ANDRADE PISSARRA

WHAT OR WHO INSPIRES YOU TO GET OUT OF BED EVERY MORNING?

Food! Seriously though, I am a bit of a useless human in the morning but it does help that I enjoy working for an organisation that enables charities to continue with the good work that they do and plays a part in enriching the lives of less fortunate members of the global society.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE THING ABOUT YOUR ROLE AT CAF?

Being in the Corporate Client team - they’re a good bunch to work alongside!

I also really enjoy being able to work across various sectors and gain insight into the Corporate Social Responsibility strategies of different organisations. I find it inspiring to see how businesses work with their employees to create a more philanthropic culture that supports a multitude of great causes, both nationally and internationally. Having a role that facilitates such a process is a real honour and one which I hope to continue to grow in.

WHERE'S THE MOST INTERESTING PLACE YOU HAVE TRAVELLED TO?

Probably India. It was a country which I had never really thought I would travel to and can only be explained as a sensory overload holiday. It was great!

As part of a last minute plan I had piggy-backed on to my friend’s plans. However, as it turned out, I ended up spending a week by myself before meeting up and travelling together for the last 10 days. In hindsight, it probably was not the wisest decision to go alone and there definitely were a few hairy moments, but overall it was a fantastic growing experience in which I got to meet some amazing people and see sights that I otherwise would never have had an opportunity to see.

One of my best experiences while there was going on an overnight camel safari in the desert surrounding Jaisalmer, and being able to see the villages and homes of people that were outside the hubbub of the more populated towns and cities. Also, the food was pretty much outstanding wherever I went!

WHO WOULD YOU INVITE TO A DINNER PARTY?

Oh I absolutely love dinner parties! When I host a dinner party I really like my guests to be relaxed and just enjoy good food, good wine and good company so to reflect that I would definitely invite:

The Duchess of Cambridge...I really need to learn better lady-like etiquette.

Florence from Florence and the machine - I absolutely love her music!

Michael McIntyre - He’s my favourite comedian and I think he would be a great addition to any dinner party.

The Obamas! I would love to invite them as they’d bring some great intellect to the conversation and I would like to pick their brains a bit on their philanthropic work.

And then obviously my closest mates and fiancé as I know they would want to meet them all too and a dinner party would not be complete without them.

WHAT CORPORATE RESPONSIBILITY TRENDS DO YOU SEE EMERGING?

Sustainability is increasingly becoming a corporate mainstream concern supported recently by the development of the UN’s SDG’s, the global civil concern for environmental wellbeing and, thus, the increased scrutiny about corporations' role in society. Considering this, I see more companies aligning their operations with aspects of the SDG’s, most notably with regards to waste and energy efficiency and shaping their CSR to better promote these shifts in operational focus.
