Giving Tuesday Now is a celebration of philanthropy across the world
On Tuesday 5th May 2020 we want to celebrate giving across the world. It is inspiring to see the response to tackling COVID-19 that companies and individuals have shown over the past months including of course the many CAF private clients who have donated funds.
We would like to take the time to thank you for your support toward the sector. Collectively, you have donated more than £650,000 toward CAFs Covid Emergency fund. Our grant-making team have received almost 5,000 applications, totalling almost £40 million, which clearly shows the immense need out there. We are currently assessing the grant applications and have so far supported over 200 organisations around the UK with more than £1,000,000.
#GivingTuesdayNow is a global day of unity in response to Coronavirus. A day where we can all come together to recognise, celebrate and give thanks for the incredible outpouring of compassion and generosity we have witnessed during this crisis.. How people have put kindness first, how they have reached out to support neighbours, key workers and communities.
It is a chance to say thank you to those who have kept us going through this challenging time, including all NHS workers, cleaners, porters, laundry staff and caterers, all food chain staff, delivery drivers, bin collectors, public transport workers, teachers, care workers, milk and post men & women, emergency services, community volunteers, workers making PPE and tests and neighbours .
And of course #GivingTuesdayNow will be also be a day to celebrate and support the thousands of charities who have stepped up and reached out to support vulnerable people and communities during this difficult time and who are continuing with their important work in extremely challenging circumstances. UK Charities need our support now more than ever before to make sure they are still around to do this great work in the future.
Getting involved is really simple
On 5 May, we are asking you to share a message of thanks on social media, as a sign of gratitude to all essential workers supporting our communities. If you are in a position to give, please make a donation on the day to a charity or a fund to help those affected. If you don’t want to wait until May 5th then just leave a message now. Please do remember to use #GivingTuesdayNow in your messages.
