What do you enjoy most about your job role?

Being involved in philanthropy is often an enlightening and rewarding experience. My role gives me the privilege of working with people doing great things for the betterment of others. I get to see the positive impact resulting from the time and resources my clients commit to good causes.

What advice would you give to clients who are new to philanthropy?

Being an effective philanthropist is not just about giving large sums of money to charity. It can also involve maximising the knowledge and skills of those who are best placed to deliver high impact.

Often, a donor’s knowledge and time is just as valuable as their financial contribution. I would suggest taking some time to think about what it is you really want to achieve with your philanthropy, what change would you like to make or be a part of? This will help you develop a well-researched giving strategy that will enable you to work towards achieving your objectives.

How do you work with professional advisors?

I work with advisors to help them understand the benefits of giving their clients access to philanthropic advice. I have learned that engaging in conversations about philanthropy with your clients can really strengthen relationships and add an extra string to your bow as an advisor.

At CAF, we offer the CAF Charitable Trust; a tax-efficient alternative to registering your own charitable foundation with the UK Charity Commission. We look to alleviate many of the administrative burdens associated with running your own foundation, leaving you with more time to focus on supporting good causes.
