By adapting the use of its new building, a community church has discovered new ways to make a difference for people affected by the Covid-19 outbreak.

Waypoint Church is a thriving church and the heart of the community it serves on England’s south coast. To extend their worship space and develop their building facilities into a community hub, the church raised over £3 million and borrowed £1.9 million from CAF Bank.

Six months after opening its annex building, the church had to pivot its plans in response to the temporary closure of places of worship. To provide essential supplies and support for people isolated at home, the new worship space and café have been transformed into a food distribution hub.

This forward thinking church also makes great use of digital tools. To help people celebrate their faith and support each other during the lockdown, the church team delivers online sermons and a series of ‘Isolation Station’ video diaries.
