How we are supporting charities through the cost-of-living crisis

At CAF Bank we are constantly exploring measures to support charities through the cost-of-living crisis. Some of the actions we have taken so far include:

  • Continuing to provide services to existing customers and remaining open to new customers while some banking providers have reduced operating hours, withdrawn banking facilities, or stopped accepting new applications.
  • Reducing the monthly account fee for maintaining a CAF Cash Account from £8 per month to £5 per month (effective from 4 August 2022).
  • Starting paying interest on CAF Cash Account balances in credit from 6 May 2022.
  • Immediately increasing interest rates following the Bank of England’s base rate rises. Full details of our current rates can be found on our Savings page.

  • Offering CAF Bank customers access to a wide range of deposit accounts with different tenures and rates through the CAF Charity Deposit Platform (introduced by CFSL).
  • Offering CAF Bank customers access to a new range of ESG-focused investment funds launched in May 2022 and introduced by CFSL.
  • Continuing to provide secured loans to help charities buy, develop, or repurpose property and refinance existing debt. Between May 2021 and April 2022 we agreed £82 million of loan facilities, a record for CAF Bank loan sanctions.

Charities Aid Foundation (CAF), CAF Bank’s parent organisation, has put together a charity resource hub providing tools, guidance and inspiration during the cost-of-living crisis.
