The cause

Lincolnshire Rural Housing Association (Lincs Rural) provides affordable, non-profit rented and shared ownership properties throughout its region.

With the need for affordable housing outpacing supply, they work to tackle the problems of an increasingly difficult rural property market and help people to stay within their local communities.

“Our residents continue to face unprecedented pressures, from the rising cost of living to the impacts of climate change.” says Lincs Rural’s Chief Executive, Rachael Fullwood.

“As a social landlord, we have a responsibility not just to provide homes, but to actively support our residents’ wellbeing.”

Founded in 1986 and with assets exceeding £25 million and nearly £2 million in annual turnover, Lincs Rural today manages 428 properties and is looking to increase its provision of high-quality homes.

Our support

Looking to add new properties to its portfolio, Lincs Rural approached CAF Bank.

Securing a £3.5 million loan facility they successfully acquired seven properties across East Lindsey, Boston, South Holland, and North Kesteven.

Lincs Rural also used the facility to invest in retrofitting its existing properties and ensuring that all its homes meet a minimum EPC C rating.

The impact

“Working with CAF Bank is helping us to further this mission and I’m delighted that we have people able to make affordable homes available, tackle the climate crisis, and lower energy bills thanks to their support” , says Rachael.

By installing solar panels, upgrading heating systems, and a range of smaller improvements, Lincs Rural are helping address both the cost-of-living crisis and environmental concerns.

“With the need for affordable homes in rural communities only increasing, it is vital that housing associations have access to the financial support necessary to furthering their mission” , says CAF Bank Relationship Director, Joe Hehir.

“It has been a pleasure to work with Rachael and the Lincs Rural team to find a funding solution which supports their plans and ensures that more and more people across the region are able to find an affordable and sustainable home for life.”
