Why

To simplify finances and further the support provided to ex-service personnel

The cause

Transitioning from military service to civilian life can be a difficult experience. It can involve learning new skills and ex-service personnel may need specialist support as they adapt to life outside the armed forces.

Wiltshire-based Entrain Space was established to support veterans and individuals who have recently left the services during this period of change, accepting both self-referrals and those from military welfare and resettlement professionals, charities, and local authorities.

Guided by their ethos of peer support and engagement, Entrain Space provide homes, practical skills and employment training, and a real sense of community - helping veterans to build secure, meaningful, and sustainable lives after leaving the armed forces.

In 2019, Entrain Space opened its first development, Erskine House, which provides high-quality, spacious, and fully furnished one- and two-bedroom flats with a support package delivered on site. The facility today allows the charity to welcome ex-service personnel and their families from across the country.

Talking about the work of Entrain Space its Veterans Ambassador, Kenny Brown, says: “Having served 15 years in the Royal Navy, I’ve seen and experienced the sharp drop many face when leaving the forces. Entrain Space is changing that.

“By giving veterans and service leavers not just their own roof but a real community, they’re turning lost potential into lasting independence. I’m proud to be their Veterans Ambassador because every flat filled and every family kept together is a life rebuilt.”

Our support

Entrain Space approached CAF Bank to consolidate their outstanding loans as they wanted to simplify their finances and focus more time on supporting the needs of ex-service personal.

They were provided with a secured CAF Bank loan, which provides repayment periods from two to 25 years for loans of between £150,000 to £10 million.

“At CAF Bank, everything we do is designed to help charities and social purpose enterprises help those in need”, says Kelly Lillington CAF Bank Relationship Director.

“Visiting Entrain Space and seeing the work they do supporting ex-service personnel was humbling, and it has been a pleasure to work with them and provide a solution that is helping them to further their work.”

As a specialist bank that understands and prioritises the needs of the charity sector, CAF Bank secure loans can be repaid in full after only two years, without additional charges.

The impact

By simplifying their loans into one payment, Entrain Space today can spend more time focusing on what matters most: supporting ex-service personal to successfully transition to civilian life.

“CAF Bank were unique amongst the lenders we spoke to and worked with us to develop the right financial product for our needs”, says Matthew Bell, Entrain Space’s founder.

“We also really value our relationship with Kelly, who keeps in regular contact and has a genuine interest in our mission. CAF Bank walk the talk when it comes to social lending.”
