The cause

Cuan Wildlife Rescue was born out of a passion for rehabilitating and supporting injured wildlife.

Founded by Megan Morris-Jones in 1989 to support the work of the RSPCA, Cuan is now an independent charity run by her daughter Anna. Today, Cuan cares for over 5,000 birds and animals each year and educates young people throughout the region about how to protect wildlife and the natural environment.

Revenue raised from Cuan’s shop locations provides vital funds to support the increasing demand for the charity’s veterinary facilities and rescue services.

Our support

Given the opportunity to acquire the premises of their Much Wenlock shop, Cuan approached CAF Bank to secure financial support..

Cuan required a bespoke loan facility, alongside the funds they had raised from donations and legacies, to purchase the shop site.

“From my first meeting with Anna and learning about Cuan Wildlife Rescue’s role in the Shropshire community, it was clear how important their Much Wenlock shop is to supporting their mission”, says CAF Bank Relationship Director, Kelly Lillington.

“After working closely with Anna to understand their requirements, I am delighted that CAF Bank could support Cuan to acquire the shop’s premises.”

The impact

The CAF Bank loan enabled Cuan to acquire both the shop itself and an attached residential property – providing the potential for an additional income stream to help address the growing need for Cuan’s services.

“Securing the future of our Much Wenlock shop is an exciting new chapter in our work protecting Shropshire’s wildlife”, says Anna Morris-Jones. “CAF Bank understood our organisation and values, appreciated the vital role the shop plays in raising essential funds, and delivered a solution that met our requirements.”

Discussing our support for charities, Relationship Director Faye Hennessey says, “CAF Bank is committed to assist charities throughout Shropshire, the West Midlands, and beyond with bespoke support that will help them to serve their communities.”
