How to tell if a message from CAF Bank is genuine

5 August 2024

You’ll get more updates from us as we prepare to bring you better online banking. So how can you tell when a message is genuinely from CAF Bank?

Fraudsters pretending to be from CAF Bank might use a variety of ways to trick you into handing over your organisation’s money.

  • An email that doesn’t seem right – sometimes with a link to a website
  • A text message claiming to need sensitive information or security details
  • A phone call, urgently pressuring you into taking action

If in doubt, stay suspicious

Staying vigilant means you’ll be less likely to be tricked by scammers. Remember, CAF Bank will never:

     1. Text or email you with a link to make or authorise a payment
     2. Claim your money isn’t safe, or that your account is at risk
     3. Ask you to make an urgent payment from your account
     4. Request your PIN, One-Time Passcode that you received in a text message, or full password for  telephone and online banking

You’ll find the rest of our Seven Golden Rules online – along with more information on how to stay safe in our Security Centre. In future, we will also be sharing fraud prevention tips and helpful information with your other online banking users.

If you are ever in doubt about whether a communication from us is genuine, please report it to our team at scamreporting@cafonline.org

A gentle reminder...

Do we have the right contact details for you?

  • Log in to our online banking service and make sure we’ve got your most up-to-date email address.

Have you asked others to check their details too?

  • Online banking users for your organisation will also need to get our updates. Ask them to log in and check their email addresses are up to date too.

We’ll be in touch again in plenty of time to explain what you need to know next – as well as any actions you need to take.

View the latest information on the online banking changes that we're working on. Look out for our next update on the improvements and how they will help you with your everyday banking tasks.
