Making authentication easier

More flexibility with the HID Approve App.

As part of our new online banking service, you will be asked to choose how you would like to authenticate your login: either by text message or with the new HID Approve authenticator app.

We understand that trying something new — like using an app instead of a traditional text message — can feel like a big step. If you use a smartphone, the HID Approve app offers a simple, secure option that gives you added flexibility. It’s easy to set up, and once you're up and running, you can still use text messages as a backup when needed — giving you extra peace of mind.

Why the HID Approve app might be right for you:


  • Stronger protection – One-time passcodes are generated directly on your device, making them more secure than SMS alone
  • Reliable anywhere – The app works without signal or internet — ideal in areas with poor or no mobile coverage.
  • Quick access – No waiting for text messages or worrying about network delays.
  • More choice – Choosing the app lets you use both the app and text message to authenticate. Text-only users can't switch to the app later without contacting us.

 

How to get started:

Step 1

Go to the relevant app store and search for "HID Approve", install it, then open the app.

Step 2

When you open the app for the first time you may be asked to allow notifications. Select 'Allow'.

Step 3

In online banking, a QR code will appear – use the app to scan it.

Step 4

Create your own 6-digit PIN to secure the app.

Step 5

Once the HID Approve registration process is completed, you are ready to log in. Please click 'Log in' to continue.

Prefer text messages?


That is completely fine too. For some customers, SMS is a simpler fit — especially for those without smartphones. But if you do use a smartphone, the HID Approve app gives you more options and greater reliability for day-to-day banking.
