About CAF Charity Dashboard

  • What is CAF Charity Dashboard?

CAF Charity Dashboard is an easy way to track your donations online. Whenever we transfer money to your charity's bank account, we’ll upload a remittance into your CAF Charity Dashboard. Then you can use remittances to manage your payments and see who has donated to you.

CAF Charity Dashboard is ideal if you receive donations from CAF Charity Accounts, CAF Donate or CAF Matched Giving.

If you want to take donations online, by phone or by post, why not consider CAF Donate?

Apply for CAF Charity Dashboard

  • How to apply for CAF Charity Dashboard

It’s easy to apply. When your application is successful you’ll be a “Web Administrator”, ready to use CAF Charity Dashboard to track your donations.

Step 1: Fill out the online CAF Charity Dashboard application form. You’ll need your Charity Commission number (if you have one).

Step 2: We’ll send you an email asking you to confirm your email address.

Step 3: We’ll also send a message to your registered Charity Commission email address. The person who manages this email account must approve your request to complete your application.

  • I can’t find my charity in the sign-up process

You can simply enter your charity’s details manually and we’ll check your eligibility.

  • Can I apply for CAF Charity Dashboard if I’m not a registered charity?

Your charity must be registered with the Charity Commission for England & Wales, Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator or the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland. If your charity is exempt, we’ll ask you for official documentation to prove your charitable status.

  • Can I use the CAF Charity Dashboard if I’m an overseas charity?

No - CAF Charity Dashboard is only available for UK registered charities.

  • How long does it take to set up CAF Charity Dashboard?

Creating an account takes about five minutes. We'll ask for some information about you and your charity, and then we’ll confirm your details with your charity's main email contact. We'll let you know whether your application has been approved or rejected.

If you don’t hear anything from us, you may want to remind whoever looks after your charity's inbox to look out for the email. You can also log in and resend the request.

  • What if I already have a CAF login?

If you already have an account with us, for example a personal giving account, we’ll ask you to sign up to CAF Charity Dashboard using your existing username and password. You can then follow the usual sign-up process.

When you log in, you’ll see a list of all of the accounts you hold with us, including your charity’s accounts and any other personal accounts you have. You’ll be able to select an account to manage from the list.

  • How do I get my donations faster?

We want to send your donations as quickly as possible. All we need is a pre-printed paying-in slip showing the sort code, account number and your organisation’s name. This can be sent via post, or you can scan a copy and send it by encrypted email to charityvalidation@cafonline.org. Please note that we can’t pay donations into personal bank accounts.

  • I want my donations to go to different charity bank accounts

We can arrange for donations to go to different bank accounts, but we’d prefer to pay money into one bank account. If you need more flexibility, CAF Donate lets you set up campaigns and manage your own payment allocations.

Online payment reports

  • What is a Payment Report?

A CAF Payment Report is quick and easy to use and puts all the information you need about donations to your charity, right at your fingertips.

You can see all your donations from CAF in one place - from personal donations such as CAF Vouchers through to company donations and payroll giving.

The comprehensive donor details provides you with all the data you need to reconcile your payments and understand your donors, with a new date range selector allowing you to download several months of data in .CSV format and transfer into your own internal database.
  • What is a remittance advice?

A remittance is a notification of payment to your charity’s bank account. We provide two versions of this record in CAF Charity Dashboard:

    1.         A PDF remittance which contains the summary of credits, debits and the net amount transferred to your bank account – this is a great summary for your finance team.

    2.         A CSV file which contains the individual donations that make up the transfer to your bank account. You can find donor details here if they haven’t chosen to remain anonymous – this is ideal for your fundraising team.

  • Why are online remittances different from paper remittances?

We’ve redesigned our online remittances as a result of your feedback, so they’re easier to use.

We provide a simple PDF with credits, debits and net payments for your finance team. We also provide a .CSV file containing the detail of the donations and donor information. It also contains additional data to help you with your fundraising insights and can easily be transferred into your customer relationship management (CRM) tool.

Please note: As we have improved our online reporting systems for CAF Charity Dashboard and CAF Donate to include all the data you need to reconcile your payments and understand your donors. Paper remittances will no longer be issued in due course.

Sign up to CAF Charity Dashboard to get 24/7 access to your donation data and enhanced online reporting. With all this insight at your fingertips, you’ll be better equipped to make your fundraising efforts successful.

  • How quickly will donations arrive in my charity’s bank account?

Depending on the donation type, we aim to pay donations as quickly as possible. We disburse (make payments) daily and, provided that we have your bank details, you should see these donations within 3-5 days of us processing it.

  • We’ve received a donation from overseas – how long will it take for CAF to process it?

You should receive overseas donations within 3-5 days of us receiving them. Please note that donations will be in pound sterling only.

  • What could cause a donation to be delayed?
We’d only ever hold back a donation if we have reason to query whether the donation is genuine. We’re obliged by regulation to carry out Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Know Your Customer (KYC) checks on every donor, but we aim to complete these checks as quickly as possible.
  • How often will I receive a remittance advice?

Remittance advices are issued every time we make a disbursement to your bank account (i.e. every time you receive a donation). If you receive lots of donations in a day, we’ll group them into one payment, and therefore one remittance advice.

We disburse daily, so you should log in to CAF Charity Dashboard regularly to check which advices are available. Remittance advices are only available online for six months, so we suggest that you reconcile your payments regularly.

Please note:  We have improved our online reporting systems for CAF Charity Dashboard and CAF Donate to include all the data you need to reconcile your payments and understand your donors. Paper remittances will no longer be issued in due course.

To get all the donor data you need, register with CAF Charity Dashboard today. Sign up is free.

  • How can we print a remittance advice?

We’ve designed the PDF remittance so it’s easy to print out immediately.

If you want to print out the CSV file, open it in a spreadsheet programme such as Microsoft Excel. You’ll need to delete or hide any columns you don’t need and increase the width of the columns that you want to view. When you want to print, you can ‘set print area’ or ‘fit to one page’.

  • Can we contact donors after they’ve donated to us?

You can access details about your donors, unless they’ve chosen to remain anonymous. We provide a CSV file which makes it easy to upload this information into your customer relationship management tool.
