Payroll giving lets you to support the charities you’re passionate about in a cost-effective way. Through our payroll giving service Give As You Earn, your charity donations are taken from your pay before income tax is deducted, allowing your donation to go further while costing you less.

By donating through Give As You Earn, you join a community that gives over £60 million of donations to charities a year, providing a dependable source of income. This reduces the administrative burden for charities as there is no need to claim Gift Aid, allowing them to spend more time planning for the future, and focus on supporting those that need them most.

Get started with payroll giving


Donate straight from your pay before tax.

Donations are taken from your pay or pension after your National Insurance contributions are removed, but before Income Tax is calculated and deducted.

If you are a 20% taxpayer, 80% of your donation amount will come from your salary and 20% will come from the tax which would have gone to HMRC.

This means your tax is calculated on a lower amount. This could change your tax bracket and lower the amount of tax you pay.

If you donate £20, the charity will receive the full amount, but the donation will only cost you:


  • £16 if you're a 20% taxpayer
  • £12 if you're a 40% taxpayer
  • £11 if you're a 45% taxpayer

If your employer already offers Give As You Earn as part of your employee benefits, simply email your HR team to ask where you can sign up.

If your employer doesn’t yet offer payroll giving, why not ask them to take part? You could send them a link to our Give As You Earn webpage for employers – it explains all the benefits. 

You can also set up your own Charity Account where you can donate regularly, and we’ll hold your money safe until you’re ready to make onward donation requests.
