It can be time and resource intensive for an overseas charity to receive donations. Before you decide to give it is worth being aware of some of these challenges.
Overseas charities often face charges to receive foreign donations. Some overseas charities may need to open a specific bank account to receive the funds.
We carry out due diligence on all overseas charities. The level of information they need to provide can vary depending on whether we class them as low or high risk. This risk rating is based on factors such as global sanctions and government instability in the country they operate in.
Charities in some countries need to apply to their government for special licences and permissions to receive overseas funds.
Based on the factors above, we suggest that individual and corporate donors give a minimum of £1,500 to overseas charities classed as low risk and £3,000 to those classed as high risk. However, these are suggested minimums and if you wish to donate less, we will still process your donation.
Our robust charity verification and due diligence processes help your donations reach their intended causes safely and securely.
