DEC Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal

The Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal is now closed, but DEC funded programmes will continue until August 2025.

About the DEC appeal

When the conflict in Ukraine escalated in February 2022, the DEC launched an urgent appeal. The UK public responded with incredible generosity.

With an extraordinary £445 million raised, DEC charities have been providing vital food, clean water, shelter, healthcare, cash support, mental health services and so much more.

DEC appeals are designed to be time-limited emergency appeals, boosting DEC’s member charities’ ability to respond to a crisis at scale. Find out more here about when and why the DEC closes fundraising appeals, and what happens next.

The DEC Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal closed for donations on 31 December 2024.

Frequently asked questions about DEC appeals

The Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) is an umbrella organisation for 15 humanitarian aid agencies that unites UK aid efforts in times of disaster or crisis, in poorer countries around the world.

We are a cause-neutral charity whose mission is to enable donors to give more effectively to any charity or cause they care about, whether that is a DEC appeal or any other charitable appeal.

We have traditionally promoted DEC appeals, from the Asian Tsunami to the earthquake in Nepal to the humanitarian crisis in East Africa.

We believe it is important to highlight the ways in which any member of the public can give to DEC or any charity of their choice at any time.

We want you to get the most of every donation you make, no matter how small or large. If you are a UK tax payer and donate through CAF, we will re-claim Gift Aid on your behalf. This will add another 25% to your donation, boosting the income that the DEC can direct towards supporting the organisations who will provide the emergency relief.

13 of the 15 members are responding to the appeal. For more information on the partner charities, please visit the DEC website
