Phase out of CAF vouchers

We are making it easier and faster for the causes you care about to receive your donations.

From May 2026 we will be discontinuing CAF Vouchers (sometimes referred to as CAF cheques) and CharityCards as part of our ongoing commitment to simplify and modernise charitable giving. This change aligns with a wider programme of digital improvements we are introducing over the coming years. It will affect both donors and charities who use vouchers as a donation method.

Why we are phasing out Vouchers and CharityCards


  • Faster donations: Processing can be slow and manual, especially when vouchers are incomplete or account funds are unavailable. This can delay vital support reaching charities.
  • Simpler giving: Online and phone donations through CAF are secure, flexible, and allow you to track your giving more easily.
  • Less admin: Moving away from Vouchers and CharityCards reduces the administrative burden for charities, helping them focus on delivering impact.
  • Customer feedback: Following consultation and research with donors to understand their usage we found a strong openness to changing donation methods.

What's changing and when


  • From November 2025: Communications to charities and donors about phasing out Vouchers and CharityCards.
  • 6 January 2026: New voucher books will stop being sent out automatically to donors.
  • 2 February 2026: Donors will not be able to order new voucher books; three months left for donors to use Vouchers and CharityCards to make donations.
  • From May 2026: Donors to stop using Vouchers and CharityCards. If charities continue to receive them you can post them to us up until the 1 August 2026 and we will process them.
  • From August 2026: CAF stops processing vouchers. Any received after this date will not be processed. 

What you need to do

For donors


  • If you use Vouchers or CharityCards: Please switch to donating online or by phone before 1 May 2026. 
  • Create an online account: If you don't have access to your online account you can create a login by filling in this form. The form will ask you to enter the memorable word you gave us when you opened your account. If you have forgotten this you will need to contact our Customer Service team to ask for it.
  • If you are not comfortable donating online: Phone donations are available, and our Customer Service team is happy to help on 03000 123 000.
  • Already donate online? You do not need to do anything – you are already using the fastest and most flexible way to give.
  • If you want to donate anonymously: You can still do this online or by phone. When making a donation online, simply select the option to keep your details private.

For charities


  • Update your materials: Use our templates below to update your website, newsletters, and donor communications.
  • Support your donors: Encourage them to use online or phone giving.
  • Process vouchers: Send vouchers you receive to us for processing before 1 August 2026. Please send them to Charities Aid Foundation, Voucher Processing, 25 Kings Hill, West Malling, Kent ME19 4TA. Alternatively, you can process Voucher and CharityCard donations yourself via CAF Donate before 1 August.

Website or newsletter notice

CAF Vouchers and CharityCards are being phased out
From 1 May 2026, CAF Vouchers and CharityCards will no longer be accepted as a method of donation. You can continue to support us through your CAF account by donating online or by phoning CAF Customer Services on 03000 123 000.

For help with the new donation methods, please contact CAF directly. We appreciate your support and are here to help with any questions.

 

General announcement to donors

Subject: Important update: CAF Vouchers and CharityCards are being phased out
We are writing to let you know that from May 2026, CAF Vouchers and CharityCards will be discontinued.

Why this is happening

CAF is making this change to ensure the donations from your CAF account reach your chosen charities more quickly and reliably. Voucher processing can sometimes be slow, especially if vouchers are incomplete or funds are unavailable. By switching to online or phone donations from your CAF account, your donations will arrive promptly and securely.

How you can continue to donate

If you are not comfortable donating online, you can make phone donations directly from your CAF account. This is a safe and straightforward way to donate, and our team is happy to help.
