What are charitable legacies?

A charitable legacy is a gift that someone leaves to a charitable organisation in their Will.

They’re one of the most effective ways to help donors make a lasting difference to your cause.

There’s a lot to consider with charitable legacies, including:

  • Does your charity have the knowledge in-house to run an effective legacy programme?
  • Can your charity handle the admin required to process legacies or provide a legacy programme?
  • How can your charity promote legacies alongside other fundraising activity?
  • Do you need help knowing where to start?

Let us do the work for you. After all, an experienced Legacy Officer can save a charity between 3% - 5% of its total annual legacy income*

Common questions

Your charity has been named in an individual’s Letter of Wishes. This means that they’ve asked us to distribute an amount of money to your charity.

Our Letter of Wishes is a private document, which provides confidentiality to your donor and their family. This means we won’t pass on their details to beneficiary charities.

We’ll distribute funds from the donor’s estate exactly according to their wishes.

Our charitable legacy service means that we do the work for you, saving you time and money.
