Ocean Resilience Philanthropy Fund

ABOUT THIS FUND

The Deutsche Bank Ocean Resilience Philanthropy Fund enables philanthropists to collaborate with scientific experts on innovative projects, with a focus on advancing nature-based solutions.

The goal of the fund is to support projects that restore, conserve and strengthen vulnerable marine ecosystems. In particular, it will seek to build resilience in habitats that are critical to the economic development of coastal communities, and thereby contribute to a sustainable blue economy in line with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal 14: “Life Below Water”. 

Deutsche Bank will use its extensive global network to identify innovative projects and charities based on the following key criteria:

• Potential to generate a strong positive impact for vulnerable marine ecosystems and coastal communities;
• Use of sustainable, nature-based solutions that work in harmony with marine ecosystems to preserve ocean biodiversity; and
• Need for philanthropic donations to unlock the project’s full potential.

Deutsche Bank will recommend grants for specific projects, which are then reviewed by an advisory council of expert scientists and Deutsche Bank personnel. The Council will then select the grant recipients and monitor the subsequent impact of any grants approved.

The Fund is open to donations from philanthropists globally, providing donors with a dedicated framework to facilitate donations in support of ocean conservation. It is a donor advised fund (DAF) and is administered in the UK by the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF).
