Charity Deposit Platform



The cause

A warm-hearted lady’s determination to save and look after a pony called Flicka led to the creation of The Flicka Foundation in 1995. This animal welfare charity has since rescued and rehabilitated hundreds of horses, ponies, sheep, pigs, cows, cats, dogs, rabbits, donkeys and other small animals from a life of abuse, neglect and abandonment. The Flicka Foundation currently cares for over 100 donkeys, horses and ponies at their sanctuary on Penty Noweth Farm in Penryn, Cornwall.

Our support

The Flicka Foundation team are familiar with the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) as they have been using CAF Donate to accept donations by direct debits and card payments for several years.

In late 2022 the charity were introduced to the CAF Charity Deposit Platform after they were left a substantial legacy and were looking at ways to maximise their valuable reserves.

The CAF Charity Deposit Platform offers access to more than 90 notice and fixed term accounts on a fully digital platform. With just one application you can move your savings around securely according to the rates and terms that suit you. Example portfolios are also available to highlight how income and FSCS deposit protection can be optimised.

The Flicka Foundation are using the Platform to invest their funds and create a savings portfolio to fund future security and growth.

The impact

As a result of the anticipated interest on their portfolio, The Flicka Foundation have been able to employ a desperately needed full-time member of staff to help with their work rescuing and caring for donkeys.

"The CAF Charity Deposit Platform has been so very simple to implement,” said Judy Giles, Executive Director of The Flicka Foundation.

“We only completed one application form, no matter how many banks we chose to deposit money with, and monitoring and withdrawing funds could not be easier. This process has helped us realise interest from a bequest lump sum of money that was earning zero. From the cumulative interest we can now employ a key member of staff. We are so pleased to have found this service and the help and guidance is first class with follow up courtesy calls and emails."

Protecting your money

Where a client and deposit is eligible, accounts created on the Flagstone platform with onshore UK banks provide clients with the same FSCS protection as if the deposit had been placed directly with that bank.

FSCS deposit protection is currently £85,000 per authorised bank per depositor. Any deposits you hold above the limit are unlikely to be covered.
