CAF COMMENT: GOVERNMENT'S DORMANT ASSETS SCHEME BOLSTERED BY INDUSTRY LEADERS

5 June 2018

The Government has just released an announcement on its Dormant Assets Scheme, after last year identifying up to £2bn of unclaimed assets that could be made available to the charity sector.

CAF Chief Executive Sir John Low comments: “This is a positive step by the Government towards unleashing billions of pounds for charities, and the challenge is to ensure these funds are collected and distributed effectively. The appointment of four industry experts to guide this process – across banking, securities, investment and wealth management, as well as insurance and pensions – demonstrates a joined-up approach. It's important however that these industry experts are closely engaged with the charity sector, to maximise the impact of this unique opportunity.”
